We believe in the importance of education and in maintaining the principles of a traditional architectural training including architectural history, traditional design, hand drawing and, above all, profound knowledge of the classical orders. We also champion traditional architecture and urbanism by active involvement in the academic world through teaching, lecturing, writing and supporting students through work placement and scholarships with a particular interest in craftsmanship and apprenticeship training schemes. Robert Adam is Visiting Professor of Urban Design at Strathclyde University and all the directors are frequently involved as lecturers and teachers at architectural schools and are widely recognised for their scholarship and academic work.
The directors of ADAM Architecture continue to publish books and contribute articles and papers to many of the leading architectural magazines and journals and spread the message of excellent traditional and progressive classical design in the wider media through journalism, broadcasting and lecturing.
We are active in many prestigious organisations as advisers and members including The International Network for Traditional Architecture and Urbanism (INTBAU), The Georgian Society, The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment, The Artworkers’ Guild and many other organisations and have frequently sat as panel members on prize and award juries.
ADAM Architecture has commissioned original research including a project in partnership with environmental engineers Atelier 10 which demonstrates the better environmental performance of traditionally designed and constructed buildings in comparison with typical modernist buildings.
