An oak chair designed for the new Sacklar Library in Oxford. This chair is inspired by the klismos, the ancient chair of Greece and Rome. Like its ancient forebears, the design is a composition of curves. Legs, back and seat all curve to give strength and comfort. The construction of the chair is subtly revealed to provide sophisticated decoration. The Sacklar Chair has an upholstered seat, in leather or fabric, which can be removed for cleaning or re-covering.
