Hugh Petter was born in 1966 and graduated with Distinction from Portsmouth School of Architecture in 1990. He won Rome Scholarships in 1990 and 1991 before returning to London in 1992 to establish the Foundation Course at The Prince of Wales's Institute of Architecture where he served as Senior Tutor for six years. He joined ADAM Architecture as an Associate in 1993, and became a Director in 1997. He has won several prizes for both academic and architectural projects. His work includes both new buildings and alterations, extensions and repairs to historic properties, as well as design consultancy and master-planning on projects in Britain, Italy, the Caribbean, North America and Russia.
He has published various articles and essays on architectural subjects and is a visiting tutor to several colleges, both in the UK and abroad. Hugh is a Chartered Architect, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, an elected Brother of the Art Workers' Guild, an elected Member of the International College of Traditional Practitioners, International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture and Urbanism (INTBAU) Academician, Academy of Urbanism.
