Cottage Orné alteration & extension, Yorkshire
A project that involves the alteration of a picturesque Cottage Orné and farm buildings within a North Yorkshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The main extension creates a new entrance front and contains a large open plan kitchen, dining room and informal seating area. Along the south elevation a new, rustic tree-trunk veranda overlooks the landscaped garden. An extension provides further first-floor accommodation, designed to appear as a surviving fragment from an older Priory building. The project also involves the conversion of an existing barn and the creation of a new stone and oak stable block. The house accommodates the requirements of a growing young family whilst developing the character of the existing building.
