Country house in Inverness
A simple new property in the Scottish tradition constructed by a building developer as his own home. Walls are faced in rough-cast render in two colours under a natural slate roof, with the pediment and porch in natural stone. Classical detailing is simple, with elaboration limited to a few selected elements. The interior contains 170m² of floorspace and includes 3 bedrooms, a drawing room, a dining room, a sitting room and a large kitchen. There are also extensive outbuildings surrounding the house. The project was developed with major contributions from the owners, in the form of a concentrated, two-day initial design session.
