Replacement Classical house, Berkshire
This replacement house has been carefully designed to enhance a particularly sensitive site within the North Wessex Downs. A change of ownership provided an opportunity to redevelop the site in a way that is more in keeping with the architecture of the area. The form and position of the new house has been carefully considered to allow it to fuse properly with the rural setting. The house is a restrained classical design with decorative detailing used sparingly throughout. The entrance elevation is defined by a central projecting bay with a simple pediment and the property is finished in hand-made bricks laid in lime mortar. The result is a traditional building that compliments its surroundings and greatly improves a neglected site.
