MODERN COUNTRY HOME WITH INNOVATIVE DESIGN & SUSTAINABILITY FEATURES

A new country house in Cheshire designed in the English Palladian tradition, combining classical principles with sustainable materials and technology. The house is simply articulated, its main elevations divided into three pavilions with a strong central section. An inventive version of the Corinthian order is used, the capitals suggesting a basket with acanthus leaves topped by a square tile, based on its legendary origins as described by Vitruvius. The innovative secondary and minor orders, use submerged columns derived from precedents by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The design was created in close consultation with the landscape architect, with parkland and formal gardens set around the house. This is one of the few houses to obtain planning permission under Government Planning Policy, PPS7.
