Restoration of riverside villa
A nineteenth century villa by the Thames, had suffered from unsympathetic twentieth-century additions and was in need of revitalisation. The remodelling retains and restores the villa, replacing later additions with a new building in the Regency tradition. A six bay wing with a central portico creates a new western entrance, restoring the impact of the original house. This is terminated by a shallow, copper-roofed turret, marking the conjunction of the old and new. A cast iron veranda allows picturesque views across the river and there are three new houses in the grounds in the form of a traditional orangery. Overall, thirteen new houses and apartments have been created with direct access to the riverfront.
