Three major new houses, St Brelade, Jersey
A coordinated group of three large classical houses in the cod house tradition overlooking the Bay at 'Windward', St Brelade, Jersey, replace the current 20th Century buildings currently on the site. A shared architectural vocabulary and simple palette of rendered walls, stone details, brick chimneys and natural slate roofs, all drawn from the local context, unify the scheme. Every house has a unique character, according to its own outlook and role within the group and each has a dramatic view over the bay. All the buildings are of traditional construction, which is the most sustainable building form.
