New country house, Cheshire
A large new country house in Cheshire will replace a redundant 19th century house and restore its historic parkland. Inventive interpretations of the classical tradition have been used to create a design that responds to the very modern requirements of the clients and shows how this tradition continues to be both popular and adaptable to a contemporary life. The landscape design is by Manchester-based Barnes Walker and will preserve the historic landscape, originally designed by Edward Kemp, an important Victorian landscape architect. This new building should not be seen as the loss of an old building but as a contribution to the architectural heritage of Cheshire.
