Farm house renovation, Dorset
This Grade II Listed farmhouse is set in an outstanding rural location, a short distance from Dorchester, and dates back to the late 18th century. However, a series of major modern alterations had largely obscured the buildings' original form and historic integrity. ADAM Architecture coordinated a major refurbishment, removing all ad-hoc additions and sensitively restoring the interior spaces. The project also involves the construction of new extensions and ancillary buildings and a new swimming pool building. Materials used are in keeping with the original character of the building and key surviving features have been retained and repaired. The result is that the intact remnants of the original property are revitalised and are clearly discernable amid later additions.
