New housing at Berewood, Waterlooville in Hampshire
Detailed plans for 193 new houses in Phase 1 of the masterplan for Berewood, Waterlooville, Hampshire. The design has a mix of housing types and tenures from family houses to one- and two-bedroom flats, with 40% of the units designated for affordable housing. In response to local needs, this will create a community with a rich diversity and a locally familiar character. The design is inspired by small Hampshire towns with their variety of simple buildings of different types and sizes grouped together around green spaces and built of traditional materials. A perimeter block form creates active frontages facing onto and defining the public realm. Private areas for gardens, parking and servicing are located behind this building line, within the core of each block.
