Sustainable urban extension at Fleet Marston, Oxfordshire
A new sustainable urban extension at Fleet Marston on the north western edge Aylesbury with over 3,000 homes on approximately 176 hectares. The development will include shops, a school, community space, a doctor's surgery, a gym and recycling facilities. The design brings out the local character of the area; expresses multi-layered history of the site and create somewhere with a distinctive local character. At the heart of the site will be a central open space with a series of formal and informal landscapes. The scheme develops new thinking in transport-based development, by linking Fleet Marston to the nearby railway and road intersections. Development will take place on both sides of the A41, rather than adopting the more usual by-pass solution, and will fully integrate with the wider and immediate landscape.
