Regency house in Berkshire

The new stone country house on this beautiful rural site is a perfect rectangle, with a basement containing the necessary back of house support functions. This enables the ground floor to engage positively with the adjoining gardens on each fa├žade. The Palladian plan, with geometric shape rooms and aligning doors, provides dramatic vistas through the building to the landscape and gardens beyond. A central hall and top-lit oak staircase creates a light core to the building, whilst enabling the surrounding rooms to enjoy excellent natural light and wonderful views out over the rural setting. This is a house designed to be lived in by a young family so the rooms are designed to function both for everyday life and for more formal occasions.
